Okay, I’m pissed. The above photos are pictures I took of the portfolio book in All Pro Custom Tattoo in Davenport, IA. So the above are two different owl tattoos inked onto two different people as done by All Pro Custom Tattoo. As you can see All Pro Custom Tattoo copied Jeff Gogue’s owl tattoo  not once, but TWICE. Two times they copied a custom tattoo and shittily traced and carved it into two different people.

Not only that, but the rest of their portfolio was full of other copied images made into tattoos, clip art, and crappy lettering. Stealing original custom tattoo artwork is preposterous and unethical, and beyond ironic since the shop’s very name is “All Pro Custom Tattoo”. Pros make only custom tattoos, and not a single tattoo in those portfolio books at All Pro was custom. Disgraceful.

More of their tattoo work is shown below:

Some perpetually surprised tattooed eyebrows.

All custom? Google says this is clip art.

The above tattoo is a copy of a drawing that’s a trace of another drawing.

All original.

That rose…

WHO THE FUCK PIERCES THEIR FOREHEAD?!?!
…not to mention gauges their chin…

I hardly made a passing comment about one of her tattoos. However “gauges their chin”?? There is nothing wrong with the other mods she has.
To be fair what I should have said was “Its a shame about that one tattoo because the rest is pretty cool.” I was just being lazy.
But guys come on, there is a difference between something being shit (that rose) and something you don’t understand.
In future I will try to be clearer on what my issue is, I was just being lazy

What bothers me the most is probably that white tattoo on her chin. When that yellows she’s going to have one hell of a strange beard.

On facebook today, with the caption, ”The tattoo im getting later today:) I can’t wait. Im getting it on thw left side of my rib cage. :)”I told her to please not get it.

I really don’t know why people think that they can design tattoos better than a tattoo artist. We spend years learning, a lot of money on decent art materials/reference books and countless hours doing research

ehh, this is shit but I designed one of mine and I couldn’t love it more!
also working on a sleeve but that’s far from finished and I haven’t touched it in AGES.

do people understand that there is a huge difference between making a beautiful drawing and designing a tattoo that has the potential to stay nice over the years, is in proportion , fits the bodypart in question and is flattering in general? I completely understand and value that people want their tattoos to be personal and unique but a tattooartist should be chosen based on skills and style and when you find an artist which seems perfect for the idea you have for your tattoo letting him or her “run with it” will give you the very best result.
IMHO.

LMAO… right… because only tattoo artists know what they are doing. I’m sorry but it’s MY body and I’m not letting ANYONE “run with it” when it comes to what’s on MY body FOREVER. Some people have shit ideas, that’s true, see above. But I designed my last tattoo personally. I drew it, it was my idea, and the stencil came DIRECTLY from my drawing, and it’s beautiful. So fuck that lol Did I mention I also designed my husbands tattoo? Proportions were changed to make sure it fit perfectly on his arm, but otherwise, it was my drawing, even my hand writing.
So there.
PS. Here’s the “terrible” tattoo I designed myself:

To be honest , the proportions are terrible indeed and the lettering is ridiculously small. I’d give it 15 years till it’s completely unreadable. That someone was willing to tattoo this on you without adapting it first says a lot about him/her on a professional level. I’d rather refuse a customer than letting him walk out of my shop with a tattoo that isn’t the best we could provide. It is extremely disrespectful to assume that you do a better job than someone who is doing nothing else but designing , researching and placing tattoos every day for years after intensive studying and a long hard learning process . I am sure you won’t tell the chef at a restaurant how to prepare your food or your dentist how to fix your teeth. Although taste & teeth are two quite personal things. You rely on their expertise.

Especially since that drawing is shit. If you’re going to “design” your own tattoo at least be able to draw and design regularly. That empty space around the horse is an eyesore, and those tiny grapes and shit are awful. The whole thing is poorly laid out with the framing vines not integrating with the drawing and the negative wasted space dominating everything. The shading on that thing is also abyssmally patchy. And that mane looks nothing like hair. If you drew it to look like mutant tenticles than mission accomplished. It’s laughably arrogant on your part that you consider yourself more skilled in drawing and design than the tattoo artist who has persued their passion for art and dedicated their life to the ink craft. Honestly.

Believe In.
I just got this tattoo a couple days ago to remind myself to believe in god, love, others, myself, the world etc.
It is NOT spelt wrong it is how you pronounce the word and the arrow means in.

That’s not how you pronounce it. Bə-ˈlēv is the pronunciation in the dictionary.  “ə” as e in kitten, “ē” as ea in “easy”. Now you’re going to walk around with mispronounciation on your wrist forever where everyone can see it and people will constantly ask you if it’s spelled wrong. Delightful.

This was a piece I commissioned from Stigmata who is an amazing amazing amazing artist. I gave this poor man the challenge of illustrating my time in Joplin, Missouri, as a civilian first-responder. Asking him to put to paper the emotional turmoil of the tornado’s devastation.
